Chitkara College of Education, Chitkara University and Chitkara International School organised a virtual event to celebrate World Laughter Day on May 2nd, 2021. The event aimed to spread awareness and educate everyone about the benefits of laughter yoga through an online global movement of ‘Laughter Yoga International’ for health, happiness and world peace. The session was headed by World Famous Laughter Guru Dr. Madan Kataria and his team. The session was full of positive vibes great energy that one gets through reciting ha ha ha ho ho. It makes you forget all the worries. It was a vibrant and joyful session. Everyone had a gala time. Around 1k people from across the world joined the event to learn Laughter meditation, yoga and its best practices which they will be able to apply to handle stress.
World Laughter Day is celebrated every year on the first Sunday of May to raise awareness about laughter and its many healing benefits. World Laughter Day was first celebrated in Mumbai, India on May 10, 1998. The day was arranged by Dr. Madan Kataria, founder of the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement. He was inspired to start the Laughter Yoga movement by the facial feedback hypothesis, which suggests that a person’s facial expressions can have an effect on his/her emotions. The celebration is a positive manifestation of world peace and intends to build up a global consciousness of brotherhood and friendship through the mode of laughter. Its popularity has grown exponentially and is now associated with the Laughter Yoga movement.
